Welcome To The Outside!

Today, February 15, 2011 at 11:47 a.m. EST my nephew Benjamin Lucas was born! 8 lbs, 13 oz, 21.5 inches long. My little Alaina Marie is a big sister!

Dad, Mom and I started the morning at Yours Truly for brunch to calm us down. Headed to the hospital at about noon (this was a scheduled birth) to wait for news. Sitting in the waiting room that looked like something out of 2001 Space Odyssey — long white room…white chairs, white tables, white walls, white floor — we chatted for an hour anxiously waiting for the news.

After about an hour my bro-in-law called my mom’s cell. Hooray!!! Now waiting…

…waiting…

…waiting…

…waiting…

And then my bro-in-law stepped out of the elevator! My poor sister was in recovery…not ready for people, but they had just given Ben a bath, so we could take a peek through the glass!

Woo hoo! He’s so handsome! And brilliant like his sister. I can tell these things. Now…

…waiting…

…waiting…

…waiting…

Time to go up! My sister looked exhausted, and so did little Ben.

But what a day…first thing in the morning he’s all warm and cozy, if not a little cramped. Then next thing he knows, there’s noise, lights, voices, cold, prodding, poking, diaper change, WTF! But then he’s brought to a nice warm room with mom. Sun beam coming through the window, and lots of visitors taking pictures.

Heartbreaker. And he has his mommy’s chin. And he now has his first best buddy. Hey Benjamin! Meet Brown Bear!

Rar.

SO welcome to the universe, little guy. Can’t wait for him to meet his sister 😀
